1. How did Africans become slaves?  Why did they become slaves? Provide details from the presentation in class.

2. What was the Middle Passage like? Give examples from the movie, the presentations and the PowerPoint about the Elmina Castle in Ghana

3. Describe a Slave's Life: Give examples from the presentations in class

4. Anti-Slavery and Pro Slavery Arguments: Please dicuss the main points that support each side.

For each of these paragraphs (4 total) please give details to show what you learned during this Slave Trade Unit.

8th Grade Weekly Agenda January 5th - 9th

This week we are working on the colony projects. You need to complete your paper by Monday the 12th of January & be ready to present in groups on Monday also.  Here are some reminders about the 2 parts of your colonial projects

Paper: Individual

1. Colonial Research paper is due on Monday 12th - please include the following

  • Bibliography in MLA format - see format on the school website under library
  • 12pt font, 2 pages typed
  • topic you were assigned, include a summary of what you learned about your topic of your colony
  • sources must be 2 book/print sources, one primary source

2. Group Research Presentation

  • Poster made to look like an advertisement for the colony you researched
  • At least one picture that is drawn or from that time period
  • Bullet points of why your colony is the best to move to
  • A map (in colonial style) must accompany the presentation
